We will always remember 2020 as the year that changed everything. Many of our memories of the pandemic will be filled with loss and loneliness. We will remember the loss of loved ones, the isolation of quarantine, and the end of normalcy, but we will also remember how much the pandemic made us appreciate what we have.
For the last few months, my daughter and I began a daily ritual of going on a drive through Loch Raven Reservoir each day. It has allowed us to break up the monotony of being in the house all the time. But it is more than just an escape from being inside the house, it has become our special time together. We talk about what is on our minds and what is happening in the world. We play our favorite songs and sing them loudly together. We laugh and enjoy the beauty of the drive. Our daily drives will be a lasting memory for me of a time when we bonded as mother and daughter.
